The quick search bar at the top of every page in StaffingBoss has now been significantly enhanced allowing the user to conduct targeted searches without needing to use the advanced search feature.
Where previously the quick search bar just allowed users to search based on the name of a candidate, company, contact or job; it is now possible to use this search bar to search across ALL other fields in the system as well as searching across specific entities (i.e. Companies, Contacts, Candidates or Jobs).
See the screenshot below of how to choose which entity to search across.
Once the entity has been chosen and the cursor is placed into the quick search bar, the user will be presented with a full list of fields that can be used as criteria for the search.
NOTE: It is still possible to simply do a keyword search as previously.
If the user knows the name of the field that they want to search on then they can simply start typing the name of the field. As more of the field name is typed, the system will auto suggest fields that match. Once the user finds the relevant field they select it from the list.
Once the field has been chosen the user can then include the parameters they want to apply to that field. The parameters available to the user are:
-
Equal to (=)
-
Greater than (>)
-
Greater than or equal to
(>=)
-
Less than (<)
-
Less than or equal to (=<)
NOTE: Once the parameter has been chosen, the user should add a ‘space’ before typing in the criteria. For example: ‘Age > 16’. Once the user is happy with the search, click enter to see the results list.
If the user has chosen a field that has a set list of values in the system (eg. Location, function etc..) then the user will be provided with this list of values to choose from when the field is selected.
It is also possible to combine multiple fields within this quick search with the use of the following Boolean operators:
-
AND
-
OR
-
NOT
Once the first search field and parameter has been set, the user should start to type the Boolean operator that they want to use in conjunction with the 2nd search field and parameter. They should then choose the relevant operator from the auto suggestive list. In the screenshot below the user is using the ‘AND’ operator.
Once the operator has been chosen, the user will follow the same process as they did for the first search field and parameter. The screenshot below shows the search query that will return all candidates that are over the age of 19 and have expressed an interest in working in Engineering
